Enthiran (ROBOT) – Movie Review

No Spoilers !!

I cant think of  any movie that was being as eagerly awaited as this one and why not, just look at the names of the People Behind the Movie – Rajnikanth , Director Shankar, Aishwarya Rai , A. R. Rahman , Yuen Woo Ping as the stunt coordinator , Stan Winston Studios (special effects) and not to mention the Production house  SUN Pictures which backed the whole project with a whopping Indian Rupee symbol.svg160 Crores (and for the worldwide publicity) . And when names like these come together its natural to have an expectation beyond imagination.

Its not everyday, that your friend calls you  for a movie like Enthiran saying that he has got tickets for  weekend night show, at possibly , the best theater in the city. You dont get luckier than this :) . And It is even more unlikely that during a time like this when you are high on mood waiting for the spectacle to began you realize that you are sitting on the Very First Row of the theater  :P . You just feel like standing on the seat and to Cry out loud.. “MAAPU !!! Vichitaaan da Aaapu” :P . I guess this was only thing i regretted for the next 3 hours.

The movie sure ,unlike the other movies in the past, has lived upto its expectations (i mean my expectations :P )  . Before seeing the movie i had got a little “not so” promising remarks about the first half of the movie but i believe it could not have got any better.  All Credits to Director Shankar for believing in his script and waiting for almost  a decade for making this Historical movie Which might well be the opening for Sci- Fi Movies in the indian Cinema.  The Sheer flamboyance of Shankar’s direction can be seen in movie everywhere right from the Scene one. The locations for the songs couldn’t have been better  especially the ” kathal Anukkal “ which has been shot GOD KNOWS WHERE (please enlighten me ). I have never seen Special effects of such Quality in indian cinema ( Mind you, i am a big hollywood fan so i wont compare it to hollywood standards  ) although i feel , had the movie been under Hollywood Productions , the special effects could have been even better with even more budget :D . Stunt sequences were awesome ,the train one in particular ( leave alone the ROBO rajni running on the train :) ) and I am really tired of actually saying that the music is good :) . When A.R . Rahman is the Music Director, it has more or less become a default compliment associated with him :) .

Rajnikanth politely declared in Enthiran why he is still acting at 60 . Although the movie is not exactly the Stereotype movies he normally selects , he has carried the whole movie and taken it to a different level altogether .  Sometimes it is really irritating to  find people mocking rajni and his so called exaggerated stunt scenes .  Yes,  he might have done something overboard but everyone in the industry too have done that at one point or the other, so why pick this man out. Better than mocking i think all those people should consider watching his old movies :X . Anyways lets come back  to the review, Rajni obviously stole the show through his ROBO character ” CHITTI ” . Honestly , there was nothing much in the movie when we talk about the performances. Almost 80 percent of the scenes has Ranji in it . I just felt as if there were just 3 characters in the whole movie (two of them being Rajni :D ).  Unbelievable but true.  There aren’t many Indian movies where you would actually be enjoying a villain’s character and i can assure  you that this one is one such kind .

Songs although wonderfully shot, sometimes appear to have been introduced just for the visual treat, like the “kilimanjaro” which seem to have no proper reason of being there.  Some action sequences in the climax too appear baseless but in indian cinema you are bound to watch those even though u dont like it :)  and yeah the funniest of all where Rajni talks to a mosquito ,it is actually not something that i expected from shankar’s movie :P .

Inspite of those things that i mentioned above i wouild still rate the  movie 7 out of 10. Please do watch the movie just to witness -the flamboyance shankar has given to the indian cinema,   life that Rajni gave to the ROBO character called Chitti ,  Music that was equally complimented by the superb locations they were shot and may be, on a lighter note , even for the kisses Aishwarya Gives to Rajni (almost double her age) :) .

My Friendly advice for those  who love to watch a movie just to find logic behind the scenes is just avoid the movie rather than lamenting later :) and yeah, once again for all those Who dont like Rajni, you should start watching his earlier movies first :) .

And I being a Rajnikant Fan would be surely watching it once again ( atleast ) :)

PS: Did I say that one of scenes in the movie was shot at My office (Olympia Tech Park, Guindy :) )

Jai Ho !!!

No surprises  .I am not going to write anything new , infact i have got nothing new :P.

First of  all I would like to congratulate Ar Rahman and Resul Pookutty for bringing oscars :P to our country ,something that we badly missed every year. Each and every indian would be proud for what they have managed to achieve . Frankly speaking i never thought we would get oscars  .

But ,when A.R.Rehman got nominated i was sure that he would get one atleast . He is a true genius . Starting from Roja for which he won national award ,he has never turned back . The magic he creates in every movie  still amazes me. I can name quite a few movies which ran in theaters just  due to his music :P .Kollywood -> Bollywood ->Hollywood , Is there anything left unconquered .

Long live rahman  . Jai Ho Rahman !!

Anyways, I would like to put forward some questions . Give me your honest opinion :P

Both the songs in slumdog were good . But dont you think he (rahman) has infact , given us far better songs in the past ??

No wonder slumdog won the award for best cinematography , I really liked the way the movie was presented ,but did it deserve the award for best motion picture ???

Did You know who Resul pookutty was before he won the oscars ?? (i mean i am not a movie buff so i wasnt aware of him )

okay i will stop it here .You see, time constraint is a big problem . 102 posts still unread on my reader .  My valuable comment will be on all ur blogs within a day ;) .Extremly sorry for the delay :(

TAXI TAXI From sakkarakatti Video song

Well ,Ever since the audio of sakkarakkati was released Taxi taxi song has been a bIg hit . A.R rehman is a genius . Isn’t he ?? I mean he creates magic every time he composes music  and sakkarakatti is no exception . The movie is full of peppy numbers and each song has a feel good factor . BEST of the lot is Taxi Taxi :D . This is my personal choice .

I always wanted to watch the video song . Thought of watching the movie earlier but after reading the reviews, i have changed my plan . Unless they telecast it in TV i am not going to watch it :D .

Anyways I was searching for the video of TAXI TAXI song on you tube . ALL i could find was this one :P . Enjoy the music and the video ofcourse :D :P .

I AM NOT THE ONE DANCING IN THE VIDEO :P

BHEEMA REVIEW

 BHEEMA
Just came back watching the Movie “BHEEMA” in mayajaal complex :P and after 3 hours of non stop violence i was quite relieved to be out of the theater .Well ,i had written a review on billa earlier for which i was bombarded with some rash comments from ajith fans .So this time i am not expecting any softness from vikram fans :) .
I am a great admirer of vikram so i was anticipating this movie from a long long time .The movie is about three main things – Violence ,violence and violence.SO light hearted girls please stay away from the movie :p but ofcourse you could got to watch the movie just for vikram :) .He was the only life of the movie. As always, he played his role with perfection.
The movie revolves around shekhar(vikram) ,a thug who joins the gang od chinna (prakash raj).As usual their is a rival group (raghuvaran’s) which has a stronghold over the city.Shekhar single handedly fights and acquires the control for his master prakash raj. This is the main story line and ofcourse trisha comes inbetween every now and then for the obvious romance track . According to me trisha’s role was total useless  in the script but an unexpected climax gives some justice to her role :P .The director wants to give some message at the end  but for me the climax sounded as if the story writer was out of any ideas and was finding it difficult to end the story so the dirctor ended all the roles abruptly and that was the end (this is meant to be a spoiler for all of you who have not seen the movie ,I just saved your 100 bucks :D).
Songs are good if not great .But i was totally exasperated while watching the item song done by sherin. Was that meant to end some spice to the movie??If it was, Director made the worst mistake by picking up sherin who was finding it difficult to even shake her hips .OMG!! who would call that as a dance .Though sherin is HOT still ,an item number is too much for her :P .
Backround music was awesome for almost all the scenes.Fights sequences were something that were larger than life ,just unbeleivable, but the way vikram did them made it look great.Raghuvaran’s perfaormance as a villain was just infallible.HAd a short but crisp role.
On the whole the movie was OK ,not more than that ,dint live upto its expectations.Except vikram’s performance there was nothing much in it.

BILLA – REVIEW !!

Almost after ages i had decided to watch a Ajit movie and it all ended up in a big big disappointment. Yes, you heard me right , i m repenting now for this one wrong decision. You may be wondering why the hell is he starting with a wrong note but i cant help it I just cant. This is the place where i can Rant with piece :P away from ajith fans.People who havn’t seen DON might be able to appreciate the movie apart from it i dont think the movie was worth its hype.

For all those oblivious of the movie ,its a remake of the movie DON.That too second time , first one came long back Starring Rajinikanth and now its AJITh turn to do try his luck . It all started with a call from my cousin who asked me to watch this movie Billa along with him.Well, though i am not an ajith fan i decided to go as the movie was extensively hyped up.Got balcony tickets each worth 120 bucks :( Considering the theater’s conditon ,its too much. I would have got a ticket for 75 even in SATYAM COMPLEX provided its not housefull :P .

I should kick the guy who gave 3 stars for billa in the local newspaper :x .The movie isn’t worth even 2 stars. The Whole movie has a sober and sullen look apart from some scenes which are just OK . Ajith hardly had any dialogues in the first half an hour of the movie.Story remains pretty much the same with no suspense in the end unlike the Hindi DON .

Ajith PArt was not bad but i guess he could have given it a better shot. That X factor was missing which should have been present in a DON’s charecter BUT i guess nobody else would fit in Billa’s shoes . All the better scenes have been shown in the trailer and the movie looks a complete mess void of them.Though the movie has been taken in malasia still there’s no Flamboyance in it.People had been talking about hollywood style  approach in it. Believe me it was far far away from hollywood.I hope hollywood directors are oblivious of the comparisons being made with this movie :) . Songs are again a big mess except the title song and another song (where he is drunk) .I wasn’t expecting much from ajith as far as dance is concerned :P .Prabhu and rehman ‘s performances were good. Only scene which caught my attention was when Nayan tara comes in a two piece swimming suit :P . She too dint have that many dialogues .I dont know why they chose santhanam in the movie he is a comedian by profession but he is given only 2 scenes in the whole movie .Can you believe it ?? It doesn’t make any sense at all.On the whole  i am more than  just dissatisfied with the movie. Ajith fans will like the movie no matter how he performs .Speaking taking kollywood in mind the movie may be a commercial Hit but Once again Ajith movie has failed to impress me.

Plus Points

  • Rehman’s  short and crisp role
  • Background score
  • Car chase scene with those drifts stunts

Negetive points

  • Nothing new in the story line
  • Songs not at all impressive except the title song
  • Lots of logical errors (all film have)

i cant mention each negetive points here .They are just innumerable.

The main jist of my whole post is If you are planning to go for this movie ,dont expect too much otherwise it would be a heartache for u too like me.

For all the Ajith FAns

I hate Vijay TOO ..
