Shraddha’s Valai

It is indeed ironical for someone like me, who was so far quite oblivious of the fact that the Tamil Drama’s even exists, to accept the fascination that has grown towards it. My respect for the various Drama troupe’s has increased over the past few months. The amount of dedication that is put in and the perfection that these talented artists achieve is just unbelievable. Take the script, direction, acting, the stage set up or even the background score, everything is worked upon with sheer sincerity. The very fact that these people still continue acting and creating wonderful stage dramas, despite the lack of glitz and glamour associated with it, just shows the amount of love and passion towards it.

Sraddha’s Valai, written and directed by Srivatsan, is a brilliant and unconventional script that talks about the web (Valai in Tamil) that we unknowingly spin across our lives. The opening scene enacted by the protagonist Balaji as Shiva, her wife Maya and his father (played by Kathadi Ramamurthy) goes for more than 10 minutes and Kathadi Ramamurthy with his witty comical punches steals the show with ease. The very next scene showcases the amazing creativity by the people managing the sets, a set over another. I mean the whole hall literally broke into applause when the curtain was raised, something that I have never witnessed so far during any other play. The concept of showcasing two different timelines is not new but the approach that was taken for Valai was simply mind-blowing.

The entry of Nithya Kaushik, who plays the character of Mrinalini, was definitely impressive. I mean, it’s not often that you see such a charming and cute girl playing a villain character. The eloquence with which she carried her role was pretty much evident through out the play. Did i mention that she was pretty? Ahem! Mani who plays the part of a staff working with Balaji was impressive too. Although the manner in which his character was portrayed was far from reality, it did add a lot of fun factor which kept the audience entertained.

Balaji soon discovers the evil plot and conspiracy around him that could very well jeopardize the whole project. This marks the entry of Srivatsan who, as always, got a grand reception from the audience. He played the role of the well known writer Sujatha. The whole conversation between him and Balaji was something beyond what was required at that point of time and perhaps, was just added to increase the weightage to Sujatha’s character. From thirukurals to nanotechnology, it had everything, which at the beginning made the scene a little draggy. Nevertheless, Srivatsan’s impressive stage presence did make up for that part of the script.

The script ended on a good note and it was left to the audience to comprehend what the real Valai was. Was it the web of corporate life that we spin around ourselves and we don’t even bother coming out of it? or Is it the technology that inevitably spins its web around us without which we cannot live and also at the same time which could do us a lot more harm than we can possibly thing of.

It is indeed quite sad to know that most people still consider the whole thing related to this Tamil Drama and Theatre as obsolete concept. The only solace is that various troupe’s and organizations such as Shraddha are putting all they can to revive the theater culture. Going by the recent unique scripts like Shyamalam and Naarkaliku Edamilai, and the reception that it has got, Tamil Theatre does look strong.

Review: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1

Harry Potter mania has struck once again !! Or has it not ?? Well, thats the question i have been asking to  myself for the last two days. I was quite lucky to get a couple of tickets of the latest Harry potter flick just an hour before the show this sunday. Would you believe that ?? I mean just 2 days into the release and at a place where tickets are pre-booked quite fast , you dont actually fancy your chances of getting tickets at the counter at the last minute.

As always i would not be revealing the whole story here but  let me be honest here, its really hard  to  leave even the small bits and pieces of the story that makes a review complete and interesting. Now, With Dumbledore Dead, You-know-who has taken over everything. Harry, Hermione and Ron take the task of finding the remaining horcruxes and destroying them. Thats the Plot. I have not read the Book so cant relate much with real version of the story. Although i did feel that the story was little discontinuous here and there.  Like the previous 2 parts this  movie too starts and clings on a serious Note. You can see a lot more of emotion involving the three lead characters which from my point of view did make a sluggish impact at the middle . It looked as if the whole drama was being stretched to its maximum just to ensure that the movie is big enough so that the best could be saved for second part. Nevertheless, there were other things in this  part that were quite Enjoyable .

Visually the movie was as good as it gets. Most of the viewers would agree that the Animated visuals that were shown depicting the Deathly Hallows Tale were quite exceptional. Something out of the box that no would would have actually anticipated in a Movie that has been on talk for its extensive Special effects rather than animation. Sound effects , as usual, were good too. We, in the theater, were almost taken aback at a particular scene where Hermione and Harry take on a Huge Python .

Personally speaking, Dobby’s entry made a lot of impact on the later part of the movie.  The crowd broke into an applause when Dobby snaps  and says -“Dobby has no master. Dobby is a free elf. Dobby has come to save Harry Potter and his Friends ” 😛 . Something that i have never witnessed in the earlier  harry potter movies. Performances were good though not exceptional . Ron was at his Witty best delivering the humor content amidst, possibly the most serious situations 🙂 . Contrary to last year’s Harry Potter And the Half Blood prince, Director David Yates was able to strike the chord with the viewers much better with this year’s Installment of Harry Potter and the deathly hallows – Part 1 . It was pretty much evident from the reactions of the viewers. Overall the movie was Good , a bit lengthy , which might have been the effect of no intervals . But it Does leave u on a high note, asking for more action which has been left for the next and the last version of the Harry Potter Series.

First Question that u ask yourself when u leave a cinema hall is – Whether the movie was really satisfying and worth your money? Well, i would give a  definite Yes for that question. So What are you waiting for ??

Movies Galore

I have been seeing a lot of movies these days. Good , Bad ,Old, New , Big screen , Television , no compromises what so ever. I have Been Watching almost everything and anything i could get my hands on.

Call me crazy but last week i went to see Enthiran for the third time and hopefully that would be the  last time i would be hitting theaters for that movie :p !! Saw Uthama Puthiran yesterday and was not very much pleased with it :x. If not for Comedian Vivek and Dhanush i would not even give a 2/5 for it . Second half was good , luckily it had got something for the audience to cheer for.

Piranha 3d was in my list for a while ever since it hit the theatres. The posters were quite intriguing so was a bit bothered to have not seen the movie. When i got hold of the DVD i was obviously expecting some real horror . But to my surprise the movie was nothing but a waste of time. People loving Gore Content might fancy this movie . I mean some scenes are so gory that it would be quite hard to explain here . All you can expect is Blood, blood and more blood. and yeah there are lot of babes wearing bikinis and dancing around. The Last scene was quite shocking to me as they hinted of a seqeul to this which i  least expected 😛 .

Then there was this Monsters Vs aliens that i saw today in HBO. and Right after that i watched Madagascar 2 : Escape 2 Africa for possibly the Nth time . I have always wondered why animation movies get less ratings in the IMDb. I mean 6.8 is quite average considering that the movie is such an entertaining Package and the fact that the movie has got an almost equal rating as that of Piranha is quite depressing. I mean either i am out of my mind or the others are 😛 .Talking of the Madagascar , there is this character i just love . A lemur called  King Julien.  A Self proclaimed King who hardly looks or acts like a king. What i like the most is his Slang and the Dreamwork guys have done an amazing work with the script. You can just listen to his dialogues again and again. This one was amazing when he comes and  proposes the idea of a sacrifice

“My sacrifice goes in the volcano, then the friendly gods eat up my sacrifice.”-
Mmm very nice thank you for the sacrifice.
“Here have another sacrifice.” No, I had enough today. “Listen, I’m going to be insulted if you don’t have another.”
I Don’t want another sacrifice okaaay.
“Look at yoou! You look skinnnny!”
No, I think I had enough! Is that clear?!
-“The gods eat the sacrifice, they are grateful. They give me some of the water, and I give it to you.”-
Female Dik Dik: Does it work?
Julien: “No! I mean, yes. Well, uh, Maurice?”
Maurice: “Eh…50/50.”

Remember the above sequence ??

Each Animation movie has its own special character which charms you and grabs your attention the most.  Do you have any favourite Characters to talk about ? Would love to hear about them.

Anyways, I would leave you with this video .

Pamela Anderson in Big Boss 4

Wow !! Did you hear the news that Pamela Anderson is going to enter Bigg Boss 4 ?? I mean is it really going to be ‘ The PAMELA ANDERSON ‘ , ‘ The BAYWATCH ‘ star ?? .   If this news true then i guess the TRP ratings would be at its best for this Show .

There have been too many twists on this show already. First, Entry of The Great Khali , i think Big Boss 4 would be a place i would least expect him to be in. Then Dolly Bindra’s Wild card entry, who turned the place into a complete Mess. Man! She needs to control her anger and not to mention her Voice too 😛 . Hasn’t she fought with almost everyone in the house ??. Anyways then , Ali Merchant, who came in to sought out his differences with Sara,  ended up  marrying her inside the Bigg Boss House. That was weird and Silly too .Rahul, one of the few , not so vicious types is out (i was hoping him to stay till the last) and Now Anchal too . Veena is just happy flirting with almost everyone in the house and seducing her way to glory . God Knows whats wrong with Seema, She faints and remembers nothing about it. And , Amidst this , If Pamela Anderson enters the house, I am sure the house would be on Fire. Why not ? The lady is so hot 🙂 . The Ladies man Ashmit is going to be in a fix 😛 .

Anyways i had a hard time  finding a suitable picture of Pamela Anderson. My blog being G rated is not a proper place for such pictures 🙂 . I mean you can only find nude or almost Nude pictures of her 🙂 .So yeah, You can appreciate me for that 🙂

Pamela Anderson Dressed up 😛

The Great Khali , Dolly Bindra,  Pamela Anderson . Whats next ?? I would not be surprised to Paris Hilton appearing on the show 😛 .  They have got some Real Crazy brains Working behind the show.

Murder on the Orient Express – by Agatha Christie

Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie

Latest edition to my bookshelf – Murder On the Orient Express by Agatha Christie.

People From Different nationalities, in a  coach that is  is unusually crowded at that time of the year , witness a murder right under their nose. With Too many clues at the crime scene, detective Hercule Poirot finds asking himself too many questions. How he finds solution to all these questions is something sensational that i wouldn’t reveal.

I dint know that the Book was actually later adapted to a Hollywood movie. I am glad i dint see the movie . I am a firm believer that movies can never replace books. You lose your imagination while watching movies so I would always go for books 🙂 .

Anyways coming back to the book, I must say i had a hard time keeping the book down. It was an Enjoyable ride throughout . No ups and Downs , none whatsoever, It took me almost85 percent of the book’s pages to guess the correct murderer. I am not a good reviewer , i know that: P , so without wasting my time and yours ofcourse, i can say that if you haven’t read the book  yet or watched the movie, Go and grab one right now. You are definitely missing something.
